Our Classes

Adult students will progress through this course designed to teach them the foundations in working in digital design & image manipulation. Students will learn foundational tools, techniques and strategies through practical design assignments. Students are welcome to bring their own iPads in the instances of learning Procreate. 

• Learn the essential features, tools and build technical efficiencies within the Adobe Suite and Procreate
• Instructor will demonstrate each tool in depth and how to navigate the complete interface
• Complete unique projects designed around each student's personal interests and professional goals

This introductory course allow student to learn the fundamentals of drawing and painting across a variety of media and subject matter. Great for beginner students and those looking for an art making refresher course.

• Learn the basics of drawing and painting by creating artworks across subject matter of the figure, portraiture and perspective
• Post completion students are prepared for One River's Adult Art Shuffle, Focus on Drawing and Focus on Oil Painting classes
• In-depth demonstrations and hands on instruction helps students gain confidence to create inspiring works of art

Create inspiring artwork by tinkering, building, combining and reusing materials in this studio art class. We will explore a wide range of media and techniques that encourage students to embrace the process of creating art! Projects will draw on concepts from contemporary art, crafts, artisanry, sculpture and the ‘maker’ movement. 

• Students will work in 2D and 3D creating original artworks that have a tactile component 
• Projects explore clay, plaster, wax, glass, mixed media, printmaking, collage, upcycling, textile / fiber art, metal and more
• Teachers provide technical instruction as well as draw inspiration from artists and makers from around the world

Teen artists will deepen their knowledge of painting and further their painting skills in color mixing, paint application, texture, layering, composition, palette knife, brushwork, and more. One River School’s innovative curriculum inspired by contemporary artists stimulates their imagination and helps them develop essential skills in a fun classroom environment. 

• Students work in a variety of painting media including acrylic, oil, watercolor, gouache, and more
• Compelling curriculum allows students to develop original concepts and create ambitious paintings

Designed for digital art students who love Manga or Comics! Students in this class will be taught how to take their digital artistry & skills further by learning the foundations of panel based Storytelling and illustrative Rendering techniques, based within two major paradigms: Manga & Cartooning. Students of this course will complete projects which explore the differences and similarities between the two stylizations and develop skills which support both. Compelling projects explore: Manga/Comic Layouts, Cell/Soft Shading, Stylized Proportions, Perspective Grids, Visual Effects, and more. Teacher led demonstrations provide technical instruction and in depth guidance on rendering techniques such as: shading, highlighting & texture. Along with methods of stylizations for both western or eastern character designs. Projects will use the program Adobe Photoshop and class is open to any student regardless of ability. Designed for advanced teen digital artists who want a rigorous digital experience, challenging projects and a longer studio practice time. Students complete ambitious digital works while focusing on projects that help them develop both technical and conceptual skills. One River School’s innovative curriculum focuses on todays’ most important artists, designers and animators. Students must have studied in Digital Art Shuffle for 9+ months or have a foundational understanding of Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and Animate prior to joining this class.

Aspiring animators can join this class for a journey into animation techniques, character development and storytelling. Students will explore figure motion, lip syncing, frame-by-frame and tweening as they take their animation skills to the next level. Students must demonstrate experience using Adobe Animate or have previously studied in One River School’s core digital program, Digital Art Shuffle. Experienced educators help you master Adobe Animate Compelling projects allow students to create original animations Students enjoy studying amongst other creative animation lovers

Designed for students who want to focus on learning technical skills in the drawing medium. Students will master the elements and principles of art and design through fun and engaging drawing projects.

• Students have creative freedom within each project to develop their own concepts and ideas

Kids Digital Art Shuffle™ opens up the world of digital art making by exposing young innovators to Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Animate and Sketchbook Pro to learn the fundamentals of the tools, layers, and software to make art on a virtual canvas. Using the latest software and XP Pen tablets, students learn how to create digital illustration and animations while understanding visual characteristics such as transparency, symmetry, frame rate, texture and illusion.

• Digital art projects include cartooning, animation, character modeling, digital sketching, hybrid-animals, digital painting, and more

Our core art program for Grades K-2 that allows students to become well-rounded artists by shuffling drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking and mixed media. Students engage in One River School’s innovative curriculum inspired by contemporary artists that stimulates their imagination and helps them develop essential technical skills in a fun classroom environment.
