3D Dinos

9:30am - 12:00pm
Students will examine different types of dinosaurs to create their own 3D rendition. From high and low relief sculpture to free-standing sculpture in the round, students will learn the diverse styles and methods of working with clay. Through the processes of experimenting and working with clay, students will learn fundamental sculpting techniques such as focusing on scale, proportion and texture and demonstrate their understanding of 3-D art-making.
  • Learn how to use clay
  • Demonstrate use of the slip and score methods
  • Complete two sculpture projects; a fossil and a small scale dinosaur

Illuminated Creations

Create an artwork that lights up! Students will make a diorama of their favorite space and learn how to add lights to create both day and night versions. They will design the interior and exterior of the sculpture.
  • Design the interior and exterior of your favorite space
  • Use lights and batteries to illuminate your creation
  • Create a 3D assemblage that features paint, illustration, and collaged materials

Robots Rule! Imagine your own personal robot designed to take your every command! In this camp, young artists will manipulate a variety of materials to construct a standing robot figure!
  • Manipulate cardboard, found objects, and mixed media
  • Emphasis on cutting, gluing, and constructing a stable 3D form
  • Personalized standing robot figure, complete with a panel of gizmos and gadgets

Happily Ever After: Storybook Art

Join us for a new edition of our popular camp inspired by various children's books. Over the course of the week, we will read five stories, discover how their illustrations were made, and talk about the meaning of each story. We'll be inspired by the messages and visuals we've seen to develop a new artwork each day.
  • Develop reading, writing, and critical thinking skills during storytime
  • Sample a wide array of art media like watercolor, clay and collage
  • Complete 5 artworks influenced by stories

This camp is for any student that has ever been curious about the stars when looking up at the sky on a clear summer night. Students will examine relevant concepts in astronomy and cosmology inspiring them to create renderings of what they imagine beyond planet Earth.
  • Learn how to use watercolor, acrylic, and collage
  • Demonstrate the use of light, tone, and shade
  • Complete a mixed media painting of your own galaxy

Dragon Creations

Explore wings, fangs, scales, horns, and more as you imagine your own dragon creation! Students will learn foundational sculpting techniques as they work with Monster Clay to create a three-dimensional work of art.
  • Learn how to use Monster Clay and acrylic paint
  • Create armatures to build more complex dragons
  • Complete a large scale dragon sculpture and watercolor resist painting

Watercolor Safari

Explore exotic safari creatures, from lions to wallabies, gazelles and more in this mixed media camp! Students will first learn to draw the fundamentals of their chosen creatures. They will then apply a variety of watercolor painting techniques and explore collage to create a unique safari scene! 
  • Learn basic drawing features for landscapes and animals
  • Explore drawing, watercolor, printmaking, and collage
  • Create a mixed media work of art of an original composition

Mix-A-Monster

Create your own large scale creature sculpture inspired by folklore, sci-fi, mythology or your own imagination! Students will complete a plaster wrap sculpture that they can paint and enhance to bring their vision to life.
  • Learn how to sculpt with plaster wrap
  • Create a large scale armature with found objects
  • Use a variety of media including paint, glue, and other embellishments

Bugs, Butterflies, and Bees

Build the eco-friendly insect hotel of your dreams! Master essential building skills to make a structure that can house insects and butterflies. In this camp students will gain a deeper understanding of insects and their contributions to our ecosystem. Students will then incorporate natural elements in the design of their sanctuary, which will attract these creatures and keep them safe.

Cardboard Castles

Build the fortress of your dreams! Master the essential sculptural skill of making a 3D structure stand on its own. Students will study architecture from around the world to design their own free standing castle based on their own blueprint! Grab your hard hat, because in this camp students will:
  • Learn about the different features of a building such as arches, towers, columns and windows
  • Demonstrate the basics of cutting and measuring
  • Complete a castle out of cardboard filled with paper characters to give it life

Explore underwater creatures from the familiar sea turtle to the exotic vampire squid. Students will learn a variety of watercolor painting techniques as they create unique underwater scenes!

Little Astronomers

Stargazers unite! Students who have ever looked up at the sky in amazement and wonder will feel right at home in this STEAM camp that blends modern astronomy and art. Together, we'll study images from the James Webb telescope and learn about NASA's current missions. Then we'll take inspiration from what we've learned to design, build, and launch our own rockets!
  • Learn about the NASA Artemis missions and more
  • Use a variety of media such as found objects, acrylic paint, and plaster
  • Create a model rocket and participate in our own rocket-launch experiment!

Explore coral reef wildlife in this mixed media camp!  Students will combine two and three dimensional techniques to create a unique sculpture while learning about sea life.
