Oil Painting Intensive

Our Painting Intensive is a two-week course geared for the most serious and dedicated pre-college students. Students will cover overarching painting concepts that relate to understanding and developing skills around essential foundations. The ‘big ideas’ include being able to use formal techniques such as color, value, texture, and more through the oil painting medium. 
  • Gain experience using oil paint, linseed oil and thinners
  • Demonstrate understanding of color and brushwork 
  • Complete a series of studies and one final oil painting

Figure Drawing Intensive

Our Drawing Intensive is a two-week course geared for the most serious and dedicated pre-college students. Students will cover overarching drawing concepts that relate to understanding and developing skills around figure drawing. The ‘big idea’ is being able to use formal techniques like gesture, contour and value to create a solid perspective of the observed figure. Developmental skills include mark making, value, proportion, perspective, foreshadowing, and chiaroscuro. 
  • Gain experience using charcoal and graphite 
  • Demonstrate understanding of proportion and capturing movement and gesture 
  • Complete a series of figure drawings, drawing from a live model

Pre College Guided Studio

Our Pre College Guided Studio course will prepare advanced teen students to apply for college with a strong portfolio. Students will complete individualized artworks that fill in the gaps of their portfolio, draft an artist statement, participate in group critiques, and photograph and digitize their artworks to have a ready made portfolio for their application. Students will become familiar and comfortable in speaking about not only their own art, but others’ works as well.
  • Prepare your college portfolio for fall / winter admissions
  • Demonstrate a diverse proficiency in different art media
  • Complete 3 portfolio-ready artworks
